A DAY WITH THE ADOLESCENTS

Yesterday was a special day in Uruguay, Independence Day!
And we had the opportunity to take the adolescents for a pic-nic. The work group did a great job, bringing the teens, doing games, cooking for them, and presenting to them the Word of God. Our brother Jorge Scheiber had a Bible Study teaching the adolescents about the importance of taking Jesus in our lives wherever we go, based on a text from 2 Corinthians 4. We hope God will do His work in the souls of all of them who doesn't know Christ yet. Be praying for this activity, we have for sure that God is working among us, but we appreciate your help in the battle. Thank you for everything.

Be praying for...

  1. Rodolfo (80, picture) - He is the father of one of the ladies of our church. Her family brought him to live with them because of his age. Rodolfo is not a christian and he says that "I would not change my religion and beliefs at this age," he is a very kind man but would not open his heart to Christ. Along with this, he has an accident and he broke his femur where it has connection with the hip. Norma Arrambide, her daughter and a faithful lady of our church is with him far away from her house caring for his father. Please, be praying for his salvation on for the surgery he will have next Monday.
2. Pray for María Emilia Arrambide, she went to Brazil to be trained in CEF (Child Evangelism Fellowship). She will be there for three months.

3. Pray for Clara, a lady of about 65 years old that began to come to the church. She is a very roman catholic lady, but she told me that she sees something in our services that made her to feel very confortable and with much peace. Also she said that she appreciate the way we use the Bible and that everyone has a Bible for reading during the services. Very important observation.

Scripture Memorization

"I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. " -- Ps. 119:11
We're glad that children and adults are memorizing the Scriptures at Sunday School, we have a long list that we are using every Sunday. Along with it, we have a chart with swords that show how many Bible Verses are memorizing each class . It is wonderful to listen the little children recite the Scriptures. Pray with us that the seed of God's Word will grow in their hearts for the glory of our Lord.

"The splendor of old men" among us... Hudson Shedd

"The glory of young men is their strength, but the splendor of old men is their gray hair." - Proverbs 20:29
Not always do we have the priviledge to have among us great giants of faith. But during this last weekend the Lord blessed us with the visit of Pastor Hudson Shedd (now retired). Mr. Shedd is a former missionary with GMSA (Gospel Mission of South America). He served the Lord 12 years in Bolivia, 12 years in Chile, 6 years in Uruguay and then, as General Director he kept on serving and preaching the Gospel. Now he is living at Bradenton Missionary Village in Bradenton, FL. As a family we recieved from him many blessings and teachings, it was an unforgettable experience. Having the opportunity to listen to him both in services and at home, made a lot of difference in our lives.

Most of all, he is a man of prayer.
Also, it was great to see him enjoying the youth and sharing with them the Word of God.

Pastor Shedd's ministry among us...

During his visit to Salto, Pastor Shedd:
Shared the Word.
Taught an Object Lesson to our children at Sunday School.

We also visited Doña Paula. It was a unique experience to see a Pastor of 80 years old visiting a lady of 88!!! As I listened to them talking about the christian life, I prayed in my heart that God would give me many years to serve him in a faithful way.

Teens Update

Since the day our youth started serving in this area God has blessed the work among the adolescents in such a way that after one month of activity the group has doubled in size. Thank you for your prayers. The youth are also growing spiritually in their commitment and responsibility to the Lord. We're glad to see how the whole church is getting involved in this ministry for the glory of God.

A soul has more value than a healthy nose!

Daniel López made me a phone call yesterday night: "Pastor, would we meet tomorrow for a talk? I have some questions about the Bible and I would like to have your help." Daniel has been coming to our Sunday evening services since a couple of months. We gave him a Bible and he began to read it. This morning he came home and we started reading the Bible and went through the Parable of the Sower explaining that at that moment, his heart was one of the four. After that, we began to read the Roman's road and he finaly gave his heart to Jesus. We praise God for Daniel and for his earnest commitment to the Bible and for his pure desire to know Christ and the meaning of Christian life. Please, pray for him along with us. He began to do Won by One course and we hope that in the following days we will be able to meet again for Bible study. After my nose surgery and being released from all my pains, this was the most wonderful thing I experienced, that's because a Soul is far better worth than a healthy nose! Lord bless.

Thank you! My nose is back again!!!! :)

Really I am not a Hollywood star (as somebody told me: "Your Dr. is a Dr., not a Magician..." hehe), but beign able to breath from both sides of my nose for the first time in my life, makes me feel as the most blessed man in the world today. You can't imagine what it was to breath the nice and cold air that went to the bottom of my nose the next moment the thread came out of it. I feel good and I thx God for his provision for this surgery. Although I have to see the Dr. in the following days, it is only with the purpose of cleaning the area that was fixed in my nose. This morning I gave a Bible as a present to all the nurses. I hope that Bible in the Nurse Room will be a challenge to each one of them and that it will create in them a desire to read and began to seek the Lord. Sometimes they have plenty of time, specially during long nights. Pray that God would use His Word in the lives of these ladies that helped me in such a kind way. Ok, brothers, I will keep you in touch about what is going to happen in the following days. Lord bless.

Almost a New Nose :)

Here is the healthy part of my nose. Doctor took part of the packed today. He couldn't take the other part. Still too tight and he said it should be easy to take it completly, so he will wait until Wednesday. It is not a nice experience feeling a big piece of thread coming out of your nose. One can't imagine how in the world that thread was inside your nose all those past days. However, it is a great release and I can now breath with the free half side (left). I have to pour on amounts of clean water oftenly to mantain it with moisture. Also keep on taking medicine and begin to do normal life. Dr. said I will be able to preach next weekend once I have my nose free. So, thx again for your friendship and prayers. Lord bless.

Roberto teaching an Object Lesson

Roberto (left) is teaching an Object Lesson in Sunday School. Dario (right) is leading the Sunday School service. I want you to know that Roberto is one of the young men for whom I requested prayer in previous post. Roberto, Wilson and other young men are preparing this kind of OL for the following Sunday Schools. Kids enjoy this time. I want to praise the Lord along with other believers here for His kindness and patience and work in the lives of these young men. They still are fighting with youth struggles but they want to serve and grow up in the knowledge of Christ. They began to share their faith in their works and with friends in High School and University. God is good!

Thank you for your prayers

Lord willing, tomorrow I will have to see the doctor. He will take my packed out and will tell me what to do in the following days. Pain has come and gone. The most unconfortable thing along with a packed nose, is sleeping during the nigth. I have to sleep in a 35 degrees' bed to prevent hemorraghe. However, for the most part I am doing well and that is because I can inlcude a cartoon joke today along with new pictures in this post. May the Lord bless everybody and thank you for your visits to our site. Hope you enjoy it always.
Today, in our church, we have the visit of Pastor Rodriguez and his family, he is the General Director of our Camp in Paysandú. He will be sharing the Word in both services, morning and evening. I have to give thanks to the pastors in Uruguay who have been in touch with the needs of the work here during this time of post-surgery recovery. It is good to have those who not only say that will care for you but also who will be beside you in times of need. May the Lord bless the work here in Uruguay.

Nose Surgery Update

Thank you to all who have been praying for my nose surgery. The surgery went well, but with some complications. Usually is a surgery that lasts between 15 and 20 minutes. Mine lasted almost two hours. It was due a complication of the skull, where the septum inserts it was completly out of place. It was funny to know that after surgery I went fighting the air everywhere while under the effects of the anesthesia. But finally I am at home with my nose packed until Monday morning and with medicine. I want to give thx to my wife through this media. She was great in helping and loving and caring and also to everybody in my church who were praying for me. Thx to everybody.

Prayer Requests for first week of August

1. I will have a Nose Surgery next August 2nd, it will put me off of preaching during two weeks; pray that God would give wisdom during this period of time and for His safety during the surgery.
2. As national churches, we are facing a great trial among the pastors.
3. Pray for some youth that made a commitment after Youth Retreat: Wilson, Marcos, Ezequiel, Robert.
4. Also pray for our son Lucas, that the Lord would touch his heart. We do have good conversations with Him, but he's under much wordly pression during the week among his mates at school.
5. Pray for our future ministry as a family. It is not an easy decision.
6. Pray that God would give us wisdom regarding the buying of another property for the Sanctuary.
7. Pray for the salvation of the new ones that are coming each Sunday nigth; at least 6 new people are coming to listen to the Word.
